Southport, Lord Street

Project Description

The Albany Galleries lies on the popular Lord Street in Southport town centre in Merseyside. It was laid out in the early 19th century with broad tree-lined boulevards, covered walkways and arcades. Albany Galleries is a Grade II Listed mid terrace building arranged over basement, ground and three upper floors, designed by architect EW Johnson and constructed in 1884 with cast iron glazed verandah to the front. Curzon Property Limited acquired the property and undertook a programme of works including full strip out and removal of modern fit-out to expose all original period details and renovation and repair of the front elevation in accordance with listed building requirements. The property was sold with the benefit of pre-application planning advice for potential mixed use development obtained from Sefton Council.
